Welcome Becca!

Hello DJJ!

My name is Becca (she/her) and I am very excited to be joining this community as the DJJ intern for the next eight months.

I moved to Ann Arbor a few short weeks ago by way of New York City to begin the Jewish Communal Leadership Program at the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

I earned my undergraduate degree in 2014 from NYU where I majored in Social Work and minored in Studio Art. In the years after graduating, I worked as a nanny and preschool teacher. This past year, I participated in the Avodah Justice Fellowship in which I began exploring the historical connections between Judaism, justice, and resistance. During this time, I reflected on the intersections of my own Jewish practice and interest in social justice. The experience and the people I met through it inspired me to return to school and devote a larger percentage of my time and energy to working towards a more just world through community organizing.

I look forward to learning more about the great work being done in Detroit and to working alongside you all!
