DJJ's Core Principles state: "all people are created b’tzelem elohim - in the image of the divine. While our leaders approach these words in different ways, we all share a belief in the inherent dignity of every human." To better fulfill our core principles, and to prepare for meaningful engagement in support of the Hate Won't Win campaign to protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders' rights, we ask all DJJ leaders to participate in a online training with our friends at Keshet, a national organization that works for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and our families in Jewish life. Leaders may choose whether to participate based in a 101 training on Mon. February 27th at 5pm, or a 201 training Thurs. March 2nd at 5pm, or both. If those dates/times do not work for you, please email [email protected] to receive a recording to watch when possible.
You're invited to self-assess the right training for you by reading an overview of the 201 content below. (Learn about the 101 content here.)
The 201 training on March 2nd:
-
Offers a quick review of LGBTQ+ terminology and axis of identities
-
Offers an introduction to diversity within and experiences of the trans community
-
Explores microaggressions/microbehaviors and the impacts on LGBTQ+ people
-
Note: for volunteers who self-select to start with the 201, Keset encourages pre-reading of LGBTQ+ Terms/Concepts & Pronouns
Register below, and we hope you'll join us at DJJ Purim to continue to exploring these topics and ramp up our support for Hate Won't Win. Bring friends!
