DJJ's Core Principles state: "all people are created b’tzelem elohim - in the image of the divine. While our leaders approach these words in different ways, we all share a belief in the inherent dignity of every human." To better fulfill our core principles, and to prepare for meaningful engagement in support of the Hate Won't Win campaign to protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders' rights, we ask all DJJ leaders to participate in a online training with our friends at Keshet, a national organization that works for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and our families in Jewish life. Leaders may choose whether to participate based in a 101 training on Mon. February 27th, or a 201 training Thurs. March 2nd , or both. If those dates/times do not work for you, please email [email protected] to receive a recording to watch when possible.
You're invited to self-assess the right training for you by reading an overview of the 101 content below. (Learn about the 201 content here.)
The 101 training on February 27th:
-
Offers a deep dive into LGBTQ+ terminology, including relationship of identities on an axis of sex assigned at birth, gender identity, and sexual orientation
-
Examines definitions of gender identity, gender expression, gender roles/stereotypes, and gender attribution
-
Covers gender expansive and inclusive language, pronoun usage, and pronoun mistakes
Register below, and we hope you'll join us at DJJ Purim to continue to exploring these topics and ramp up our support for Hate Won't Win. Bring friends!
