Purim and Progress

It’s that time of year again folks! Please join us for DJJ’s 2025 Campaign Kickoff & Purim Party! 🎉We’ll be hard launching our 2025 campaigns after months of hard work from our incredible Campaign Selection Team 🙌  holding a costume contest (so make sure to show out), putting on a talent show, displaying art from local Jewish artists, noshing, partaking in an art build, and officially introducing our new Co-Director, Lisa Tencer! We’re so excited for you to join us on Sunday, March 16th from 2-5pm at the Downtown Synagogue in Detroit! RSVP and accessibility details below and don't forget your costume for the costume contest!!

Masking & Accessibility: At DJJ, we prioritize community care and accessibility. While masks are not mandatory at our events, we strongly recommend their use to help protect one another, especially KN95 masks, which provide more protection than cloth masks. We encourage clear masks as an option to support lip-readers, as opaque masks can be a barrier to communication. We often share meals together, so please feel free to do what you need to feel comfortable in those situations. We also recommend testing for COVID-19 at home before attending large gatherings, particularly if you have any symptoms. Finally, we urge our community members to get vaccinated if possible, as it helps protect everyone. Your health and safety matter to us! Masks will be available at our events.

Parking: There are a few street parking spots right in front of the synagogue building with a nearby curb cut. There are several parking lots and street parking available close to the synagogue. The sidewalks in the area are relatively well-maintained and there are several (albeit somewhat bumpy) curb cuts. The lots will typically charge $10-25 and street parking is free on Sundays!

Building accessibility: There are no stairs to enter the building and there is an elevator to access each floor of the building. There are also several gender neutral bathrooms.

There will also be a designated quiet area as well as a lightly supervised kids area. We're providing food and soft and hard drinks, and there are also water fountains with bottle refill stations throughout the building.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
