BIG NEWS! Introducing our new Co-Director!

To the DJJ Community,

In the last two years, DJJ has so much to be proud of. We became a 501c3, hired two new organizers, developed foundational strategic documents, and more – all in service of growing our ability to work in deep partnership with our Detroit neighbors for racial and economic justice. As your outgoing DJJ board chair, I’m excited to share one more amazing development by introducing you to our new Co-Director, Lisa Tencer!

Lisa is a former DJJ Trustee and longtime leader in our community.  She brings to this role experience in the legislative world,  an incredible knowledge of community organizing, expertise in urban & public policy, and perhaps above all else, deep roots in the Metro Detroit Jewish community.  We are so privileged that Lisa will be bringing her talents to lead our community power building work alongside Allie, and are grateful for her boldness as she steps into leadership in such a politically important and challenging moment.

“I hope you’ll join us and commit to fighting with us next year. Among moments of joy and rest, and with the memories and strength of our ancestors, we will fight to protect our communities, our families, our neighbors, our friends, and ourselves. I couldn’t be more grateful to be in this work with you all. The work will be hard but if we come together, I know that we can sustain one another.” - Lisa Tencer, Co-Director, Organizing, Detroit Jews for Justice

Donate to bolster Lisa’s brave leadership and congratulate her on this exciting new journey!

In solidarity,

Hayley Sakwa, DJJ Board of Trustees
