Lament: #CloseTheCamps

Join us as we observe Tisha B'Av and demand that the Trump Administration #CloseTheCamps and that the Dearborn Police Department end their contract with ICE

As Jews and people of conscience, we are disgusted and filled with grief by our government's treatment of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, including the Dearborn Police Department's contract with ICE to detain immigrants.

Answering the call from United We Dream, Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice and others we join with others around the country to observe Tisha B'Av, the Jewish day of mourning, by bearing witness to the tragedy right before us. On Tuesday, August 13 at 6:30pm, we'll gather at the Dearborn Police Department to lament, to protest, and to show solidarity with those impacted by unjust immigration policies.

We demand that Congress and the Trump administration #CloseTheCamps, and that the Dearborn Police Department end their contract with ICE.

People of all faiths are welcome at this event. Please wear black to signal mourning.

We will meet on the East side of Dearborn Police Department in the courtyard adjacent to parking lot.

Parking: There's a big lot right next to the location with plenty of parking, including handicapped parking.

Accessibility: There are no stairs or obstacles to accessing the location. We will be sitting on the ground, which is concrete. There are several benches nearby for those who can't sit on the ground, but people are also invited to bring their own chairs or stand. There will be an amplified sound system.

This event is hosted by Detroit Jews for Justice, Cair Michigan, and Bend the Arc: Ann Arbor. Many thanks to Rabbi Matt Zerwekh, Dawud Walid, Rabbi Brent Gutmann, and Rabbi Jeff Falick.
