**LOCATION CHANGE!** - Due to a likely downpour, we're moving our picnic to the Repair the World workshop in Southwest Detroit. The address is 2701 Bagley Ave in Detroit, 48216.

We invite all DJJ volunteers to a picnic at Belle Isle on Sunday, July 24th! The event lasts 12 - 3 pm - but we have an exciting and interactive program planned from 1 - 2 pm. If you can't make it for the full time, please make 1 - 2 pm your priority!
We'll talk big picture about our Jewish justice work and offer updates about many activism opportunities in Detroit. We'll also discuss getting involved with the upcoming transit millage proposal, which we encourage you to learn more about here beforehand.
Be sure to bring clearly-labeled food (it's a vegetarian potluck), a pillow/folding chair (if the ground isn't your favorite place to sit), games (if that's your shtick), and sunscreen (because safe is better than sorry). We'll provide the learning, entertainment, and water; Hashem will provide the (good) weather.
Give yourself a little extra time to get to our picnic spot - it's ALL THE WAY around the island, nearly back to the bridge. See map below for clarification. Remember - you may be asked for a Recreation Pass as you enter the island. If you don't have one, they only cost $10 and can be purchased on the spot.
On a more serious note, we know the past few weeks have been a time of a lot of emotion in our country. We want this to be an intentional space where we can honor those whose lives are lost to violence, heal together, and remind ourselves that this is why we do our work. Let's build! See you soon!
