Hi all!
My name is Natalie and I’m so excited to be joining DJJ as an intern!
A little bit about me: I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. As you can imagine Salt Lake had a very small Jewish community, but that didn’t make it any less vibrant. I was involved in my synagogue, BBYO, and Jewish summer camp in Colorado. I felt the most like myself when spending time around the Jewish community, which led me to apply to Brandeis. Moving across the country to Massachusetts was a big shift, but I had a wonderful four years at Brandeis.
I always knew that social work was in my future and the fall of 2024 felt like the perfect time to make that happen. I discovered the University of Michigan School of Social Work’s Jewish Communal Leadership Program (JCLP), which allows students to graduate with a Master’s in Social Work and a Certificate in Jewish Communal Leadership. Through this program I discovered Detroit Jews for Justice and was fascinated by the work they do. Being new to both Michigan and the Midwest, there is a lot for me to learn about Detroit. I am excited to learn about the rich history of Detroit through all the work that we do and through connecting with all of you.
There are many topics I’m passionate about right now including but not limited to LGBTQ+ rights, immigration, abortion rights, and equal access to quality sexual health services and sex education.
I’m going to do my best to connect with as many of you as I can, but the summer is going to fly by. Please schedule some time with me here! I would love to get to know you and hear about your experience with DJJ.
