Housing Justice Action on May Day

On May Day DJJ stood in solidarity with Good Jobs Now, a member of the Coalition to End Unconstitutional Tax Foreclosures, to protest the needless displacement caused by tax foreclosure.

Protestors called on elected officials to make a number of changes to the foreclosure process, chief among them being a moratorium on the upcoming tax foreclosure auction- in which thousands of residents face immediate risk of losing their homes. Rally goers marched peacefully through the lobby of the Wayne County Treasurer, some carrying moving boxes instead of signs, symbolizing the  unnecessary evictions caused by current policy.
