Calling all DJJ leaders: RSVP to join us for our monthly General Meeting on Tuesday, May 15th. If you are able, **we invite you to bring contributions for a vegetarian potluck!**
Potluck dinner served 6 - 6:30 pm. The meeting will start promptly at 6:30 and go until 8. The location is Breakers Covenant International Church, the new DJJ office, located at 8801 Woodward Ave in Detroit. The meeting will be in the ADA accessible 1st floor conference room.
We'll start with breakout groups then we'll come back for updates and community announcements.
The 3 breakout options are:
- Flint Action Breakout: The water team will lead this breakout group in learning about the recent stoppage of government water distribution in Flint. We will then contact our representatives to speak out on this issue. No prior knowledge required.
- Poor People's Campaign: To learn about and prepare for our upcoming involvement in the Poor People's Campaign, 5 weeks of action at the state Capitol in May/June. Learn more and RSVP here.
- Shabbaton -- co-working session for folks planning the leadership retreat "Shabbaton" for June 1-3.
**After party & dessert to follow at 8pm in our new office upstairs.** We'll be hanging a mezuzah on our door and we'd love to have our community there for the occasion. (If you don't know what a mezuzah is -- come find out!) We sincerely apologize that the office is not ADA accessible as the elevator is in need of repair -- we hope to get it fixed up soon.
