Making Art for Sunday's Hanukkah Action

DJJniks gathered last night to make art out of recycled materials for Sunday's Hanukkah action: Illuminating Water Justice.

Using the talents of our community, we put together a zine with information on the background and implications of the Detroit water shutoffs. Together, we created signs with statistics, song lyrics, and bold statements of the importance of water access. To see the zine and join with us in celebration and action in honor of Hanukkah, check out the event information below.

Join us for Illuminating Water Justice this Sunday 6:30-8:30 at Campus Martius. DJJ will gather after Menorah in the D for song and ritual and to hear from speakers about local struggles for clean and affordable water. After the program, we will gather at Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue for refreshments and mingling. Find more info here and on the Facebook event page.

As part of the Hanukkah/water justice campaign, DJJ is launching 8 Days of Water Justice, a social media campaign that ties the story of Hanukkah to our struggle for water justice. Follow DJJ on Facebook and Instagram @detroitjewsforjustice, or subscribe to receive daily emails throughout Hanukkah, with educational content on local water issues and clear actions you can take to advocate for clean and affordable water.
