Dear Ira Jaffe, Dale Watchowski, Karen Sosnick Schoenberg, and Paul Stodulski,

We write to you as Jews in Michigan who demand ICE OUT of our communities. Many of our ancestors fled other countries that systematically targeted our families based on their perceived ethnicity, religion, or race.

We are in solidarity with the growing, diverse, and expansive nationwide movement to reject ICE brutality and violence. We are Jewish leaders and Jewish communal members who reject an immigration system that dehumanizes and enacts violence on our neighbors. ICE is murdering people on the street, destroying families, kidnapping students, and racially profiling and targeting our neighbors. As Jews, we know in our bones and through our moral teachings that it is incumbent upon us to ensure that this cruelty and injustice stop.

REDICO is currently enabling this detention and deportation machine. You are staff with the decision making power to stop this activity. Thus far, you have refused to cancel your lease with ICE after repeated outreach from Southfield neighbors. Despite your claims that law enforcement will not occur at One Towne Square, we have independent confirmation that OPLA, ICE's attorneys are operating in your building. ICE's attorneys determine the size of a child's cage, they make it possible for large detention centers to exist, and they fight in court for the separation of families.

33 human beings with families, hopes, and dreams died in ICE custody in 2025. Far higher than in any year in the previous two decades. This year is on track to be even deadlier. The stakes could not be higher.

So we call on you to join us. Be the good neighbor in Southfield that you claim to be. Make the choice to cancel this lease with GSA/OPLA. We will not stop fighting until you do so. Corporations in Michigan and nationwide can no longer be complicit and enable ICE's crimes. Jews in Michigan demand that you cancel the lease.
