Introducing our new intern

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Miriam and I am thrilled to be the new DJJ intern! I am so excited to grow alongside this amazing community.

I grew up in West Bloomfield, Michigan. I am currently studying at the University of Michigan where I just finished my first year. I am hopefully majoring in psychology and organizational studies. On campus I am involved in an up and coming feminist sorority, as well as the Muslim and Jewish interfaith club, MuJew!

When it came time to find a summer internship I knew three things: I wanted to be involved in something Jewish, something in Detroit, and something social justice oriented. DJJ was the perfect fit! Growing up in West Bloomfield I didn’t get to interact with Detroit enough, but in high school I did Peercorps Detroit where I met Rabbi Alana and learned about all the amazing work DJJ does. Through Peercorps I was inspired to find a connection to Detroit and I hope that working with DJJ can help me further that connection.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and am looking forward to learning from this community as much as I can.
