In the wake of this past shabbat's horrifying hostage situation in Colleyville, TX, we are reminded of the urgency of dismantling antisemitism. The outpouring of love and support that we as a Jewish community continue to receive from our Muslim neighbors in response is a reminder that Jews don't have to combat antisemitism alone. We are so grateful to have tools and resources at our disposal to unravel — and dismantle — antisemitism with our community.
Kendra Watkins (they/them) is Program Associate for Racial Equity at Detroit Jews for Justice. They learn, teach, and build community with Edot Midwest: The Midwest Regional Jewish Diversity and Racial Justice Collaborative, and SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva. Kendra is interested in the ways our religious and racial identities interact with one another and seeks to transform difficult conversations into points of connection. Rebecca Katz (she/her) is an artist and educator from Brooklyn, NY. She’s spent the past decade working in the Jewish social justice movement with teens through adults. Rebecca operates from a foundational belief that everyone is creative. She’s focused on bringing the creative process to all aspects of movement building and as a space for people to reflect on their connection to social justice, identity, and place.
