Last night I had the pleasure of attending my first DJJ general meeting. 

We heard about four different ballot proposals: One Fair Wage, Paid Sick Time, Promote the Vote, and Voters not Politicians. I learned from each of them how to advocate for these proposals. These are tools I hope to take back to my college campus with me in a couple weeks. I enjoyed listening to all of the thought provoking questions of the DJJniks around me and tried to soak in as much information as I could from the panelists' fascinating answers. I was inspired by Eleanor's passionate words about the connections between DJJ's work on water justice to voting rights and workers' rights, and Valeriya and Allie's talk about how fundraising = organizing (more info on that coming to the blog soon!). Overall the event was a great reminder of what a fantastic community I've been lucky enough to be a part of for the past four months.
