Beyond Shame & Blame: Learning & Connecting our ‘67 Stories

A Film Screening of Internal Combustion

Hosted by Repair the World, Detroit Jews for Justice, James and Grace Lee Boggs Center to Nurture Community Leadership, and the Well

Steve Faigenbaum's Internal Combustion ropes in the importance of storytelling in the 1967 Rebellion. Location and RSVP information TBD. Join us to watch the film and begin to explore the following questions:

  • How do we create caring, sustainable, and interconnected Metro Detroit communities that respect the dignity of all?
  • How do we learn our histories surrounding the 1967 Rebellion while going beyond shame, blame, and guilt?
  • How do we acknowledge how we fit in the systemic racial and economic injustice that catalyzed the 1967 Rebellion while creating healthy and empowering community conversation that heals and leads us to act with accountability?
